It is a sad commentary on our society and the political landscape when a story such as this has made it to my attention and now to The Human Show. Apparently Barack Obama will not visit a Sikh temple when he visits India soon. This is a major tourism site and because all visitors must wear the Sikh head covering the political aides at the White House have deemed it bad politics to allow pictures of the president wearing the head covering. It is unfortunate that people would attempt to exploit those types of completely benign photos and it is equally unfortunate that the president is not standing up to that, but rather caving and in effect shunning this opportunity to visit a prominent site in India related to a peaceful religion.
